Circular Walk:
Following on from my pic in Fortean Times Simulacra Corner we'll be
taking a detour to
Lud's Church
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=twrWTJMAl4k
(Lud's Church - site of the Green Chapel, hideout, ghosts, cannibals,
and a wonderful place in general).
Hangingstone Rock (picnic there if good weather... if not so good, will
use shelter of Lud's Church)
Drive to next Stop
Could include Gun Hill standing stone / cross shaft - and site of
Gallows enroute to pub
http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=5453
Short drive to next Stop (some nasty junctions to take care)
Pub at Rushton Spencer
I think it's the Royal Oak

Walk:
St Helen's Well
http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=17361
The Site of Satan's Stone
http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=17360
en route to St Nicholas' Church - a church on a promontory, and IMO a
very numenous location. Couple interesting stones and site of a murder
victim's unusual grave
Drive to east side of Bosley Cloud -
walk up a brilliant hill, a possible standing stone or two
http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=6215
http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=6216
Also great views, and somewhere (I've not found yet) alleged to be a
simulacrum of a face with a smile which appears to fade in and out
depending on where you exactly look - rumoured to be be inspiration for
Lewis Carrol's 'Cheshire Cat'.
Then a short drive around the block to finish with The Bridestones
neolithic chambered tomb
http://www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?sid=473021467
Likely finish mid evening; several watering holes in the area, say no
more...
