interesting point, Nick

solstice: wonder when prehistoric folks actually stopped using Stonehenge, i presume the megalithic monuments of the British Isles fell out of use, either during or after the Bronze Age? Surely the archaeological record would throw some light on the use/disuse of Stonehenge, in terms of a 'time-line', for example?

i don't know about the accommodation for visiting Stonehenge - i think Amesbury would be good for B+B?

there's a map here, too -

It was wet but fun, we have gathered for 5000 years and still feel the need to !!! it is marvelous that wiltshire county council allow this to happen i have pondered the finances and reckon they came to the conclusion that it is cheaper to let everyone come than police it and keep people away !!! it still must cost them a lot any idea how much ? i like many others im sure, cant quite get my head around the litter issue !!!!!!, i wondered if people on the list could pass on any info about how the open access works on the equinox and winter solstace, i want to take my 5 year old daughter, the summer celebrations wouldnt suit

where do you park ?
how long is access granted ?
what is the accomodation like in the area ?

thanks

Nick
