For your information, my first book is now with The Publisher - I
believe it will be more likely out in October than August. I've not had
proofs yet - but the work is in production!

Of particular relevance to these lists is the inclusion of known
prehistoric routes in North Wales, and postulated routes on Anglesey -
hitherto ignored in that respect. I've endeavoured to put prehistory as
the starting point for British history (and not the Romans!), and have
undergirded later routes with reference to prehistoric features where
relevant. As we all know, there's a lot more to prehistory than
Stonehenge and Avebury (as fine and noteworthy as they are). Excepting
major road technology innovations, many routes remained the same for
millennia, I contend.

/"This new historical study includes fresh information on Roman routes
on Anglesey; prehistoric trackway suggestions on Anglesey and on drove
routes across North Wales. Well illustrated with photographs and maps.
The intention is that the reader will never see moving in this landscape
in the same way again, the book will have unlocked for them a land
arguably unparalleled in its layering of stunning scenery, history,
archaeology, myths, legends, saints and stones – all using and making
roads and trackways, most of which are still with us in one form or
another today. Roads & Trackways of North Wales is not a walking guide.
It is, however, intended as a usable work, to be employed in concert
with maps as a catalyst for exploring and understanding the landscape
and routes./ "

Historical and Geographical scope includes: prehistoric trackways, Roman
roads, pilgrimage roads, drove roads, up to and including Turnpikes and
Thomas Telford - from Barmouth to Welshpool northwards.

Should there be any Facebook addicts out there, I have a dedicated group at

All the best

Tim
