fair comment, Mark - but then, why o why hasn't the
professional documenting of the stones been mentioned
on their generally pretty thorough 'Silbury Update'
page? what has been photographed on there for us, are
plastic bags full of chalk, after all the talk of
removing alien substances from the hill? i, for one,
want to know all about these stones - precisely where
they were found? what was found with them? and to know
that they are going to be accurately returned to the
hill, when it is stabilised; at the moment, the
actions of those responsible for Silbury have left me
with little confidence and great alarm - i still
cannot bring myself to believe suitably clad
archaeologists are going to seal 100's of metres of
plastic into the heart of Silbury Hill; and *if* the
recovery of these sarsens has been bodged, so that lay
people - like myself - and the specialists, are robbed
of the chance to deepen our understanding of the hill
- in which i am passionately interested - i will never
forgive them
i stand ready and willing to shower praise, wherever
and whenever due - but my patience is tested, here?
thanks
