Hi, All--

I hope not to be trespassing in any way with another American item or two,
but I think it might be a contribution to this list.

Recently the New York Times ran this article about the vanishing of the
Anasazi:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/08/science/08anasazi.html

If you are a fan of the Anasazi, this is intrinsically interesting, but I
think one of the major concepts to be gleaned from the article is that there
is a benefit that accrues from an integrated, multi-disciplinary approach to
studying a major question of archeology (such as, in this case, why the
Anasazi migrated).

Linked to the above article is another, earlier one:

http://travel2.nytimes.com/2006/09/29/travel/escapes/29chimney.html

I believe this article will really be enjoyable for Stones listees. It is
about the phenomenon of the ³moon standing still² every 18.6 years, as
happened a couple of years ago, which was observed at Stonehenge and
Callanish as well.
