Wolf, thanks for the lovely list of angles.  I tend to agree placing more hope in the bottom up tactic will probably net me the best result.  I'm sure my qualifications being a mere artist will not net me much favour with most of the avenues, I believe I will try several.

Is the little tourist shop where you book passage open, do you know?  I'm stll looking for any of their books that have photos of the stones.
