Hi Rowan,

Can't say as I do exactly, only I have an idea how I might approach
such a thing (never having done so) - depending on one's
qualifications (or lack thereof)...

A 'top-down' approach would seemingly involve going through channels
with the Ministry of Culture
http://www.culture.gouv.fr/

Whereas a 'bottom-up' strategy suggests making contact with:
  - others who have done so in the past, or are in the process of
applying: authors, academics, photographers (try a Google image
search and e-mail resulting contacts?)
  - local archaeologists, artists, tour guides or others, possibly
through the
  - Université de Bretagne-Sud, Vannes
	http://www.univ-ubs.fr/
  - Museums

(All this assuming that the traditional sidewards angles (beg,
borrow, steal, bribe) hold no attraction.)

Generally I favour a 'shotgun' approach - try everything at once and
see what gives - though in this case I would place more faith in the
'bottom-up' tactic...

I'd start by ringing up the site stewards and asking them.

List of Organisations and Services:

fsguidorg_en.htm

This page shows Gavrinis' schedule and phone number (and those of
other sites in the area)
http://www.culture.gouv.fr/culture/arcnat/megalithes/en/guid/
fsguidsit_en.htm

And this page the museums
http://www.culture.gouv.fr/culture/arcnat/megalithes/en/guid/
fsguidmus_en.htm

I'm visiting friends not altogether far from there at the moment,
though it's shut to 'tourists' in the off season - when I swung by
for a look from the nearest shoreline nearly a year ago I could see
through the field glasses some men clearing and burning brush.

Happy hunting and foraging,

Wolf
