The traffic is now banned (only the last year or so) and I have stood there
with a single fellow traveller and simply blocked the way of a pair of 4x4s
whose foreign occupants (with an excellent commend of english and perfect
vision to see the signage) resisted all attempts to make them back up until
we began to photograph the vehicles, number-plates and all, and point out we
would simply send them to both the police and their embassies. Immediately.
They backed off, and went off to the car-park.
It needs persistence and a touch of bloody-mindedness, but it can and will
get better.
