Greetings all,
Stumbled across these credit card size plastic map measuring thingies
on eBay.co.uk - with both 1:50,000 (Landranger) and 1:25,000
(Explorer) scales for six digit references - but the same bloke has a
'buy 2, get 1 free' deal on his website (which works out to £1.50
each, inclusive),

Mine arrived swiftly - despite my being in Spain - and I reckon
they're brilliant. Only thing I am tempted to do is punch a small
lanyard hole in one corner, a larger one (for circling map sites)
further along, and stripe a sort of 'screen protector' (layer of
clear 2 inch packing tape) over the printed side to impede the ink
wearing off... but as I have three, I'll test the first to failure by
carting about continually.
I had a big flimsy one made by Silva (the compass people) - this is
much neater, sturdier, easy to carry at all times, and highly
unlikely to rumple or crack (unlike the Silva, which is bent, folded,
spindled and mutilated just from riding around in a rucksack).
And no, i am not affiliated (only wish I'd thought of it)...
Wolf
