Yes I'd say natural erosion without a doubt. This site has already been
discussed over the last few months on a couple Druidic web forums that
I'm on with similar conclusions. Having said that Dr Borlase was very
keen to suggest that such basins were made by ancient druids in the 18th
C. He claimed that they were for collecting purer rain water or snow for
use in rituals.
Who do these people mean by the chief druid of Cornwall? There's the
wonderful, eccentric, Ed Prynn who as an ex stone-mason and quarryman
would spot natural erosion a mile off. There's the Grand Bard of the
Cornish Gorseth - who would no doubt refer the matter to other bards
with archaeological training or interests and I would expect them to
reach similar conclusions.
I suppose if this theatre group want to call this outcrop Arthur's Sword
they can. I wonder what names the locals might use for it?
