yup,
was like a ghost town on Sunday - i have not noticed
that elongated, downward dent in the side of Silbury
before? do you think it's dangerous? i mean unstable?
it has been carefully marked out with blue cord, very
visible from the road: i have watched entire families
ascend Silbury here, with family dogs and small
children in tow, despite fences and signs - what's to
stop anybody dancing a jig on top of that subsidence?
is it not the responsibility of Skanska to make safe
what they have begun? Is it not the responsibilty of
English Heritage to protect Silbury Hill, which is 'in
their care'? what i am trying to say is, now all the
action has sort of turned damp, have they all ruggered
off somewhere completely? there was absolutely no-one
watching over the hill, in its currently critical
condition? the whole site appeared to have been
abandoned? i was there for a good 30 minutes, in the
rain - not a soul to be seen?
lighter subject: Swallowhead Springs still flowing
nearby, testament to a higher water table than usual,
with all this rain?
