Bit dead isn't it! Now you know why I come on to stir things :-)
I'll probably forget nearer the 27th, but did you know the Stones list
is about to be 9 years old. These are the first few threads:
http://www.stoneslist.org.uk/archives/1997-09/threads.html
http://www.stoneslist.org.uk/archives/1997-10/threads.html
That second one is interesting to look down, a lot of subjects are
talked about for the first time. Quite historic in a way.
There's also something of a historic exchange between myself and
Alligator here:

AB: Do you fancy helping with a mad ambitious endeavor to get images of
every single megalith on the Internet? Again have a look at the
Prehistoric Web Index.

AD: Well, this is part of where the whole Web idea comes in, one would
imagine. I'm perfectly happy to continue putting up images of the
Scottish sites since they're pretty reachable, and I'm sure I'd be ably
aided and abetted by Martin McCarthy on this one. I'm pretty sure
between us we can cover quite a good proportion of the sites.
It also provides evidence that I did coin the term 'megarak' and not
Alligator Descartes as has been claimed. It's first use was by myself on
5th October 1997

Unless Alligator can provide any evidence of it's use earlier than this
then that's it deciced.
This is also when we first heard from the enigmatic Chris Lees, who was
doing a lot of interesting research he wouldn't tell us much about. He
disappeared a year or so later, never to resurface. Are you sitill out
there Chris?

Who apart from Chis and myself from this thread are still on the list
and still megarakking?
The only other name I can see still active is the legendary Sigurd
Towrie from Orkney
Cheers,
Andy
With thanks to Chris Tweed for such a good list archive
