It will have blood; they say, blood will have blood:
Stones have been known to move and trees to speak;
Augurs and understood relations have
By magot-pies and choughs and rooks brought forth
The secret'st man of blood. What is the night?

Shakespeare
Macbeth. Act 3. Scene 4.

Thanks to Rhiannon on The Modern Antiquarian for drawing my attention to the above. She also points out that Stratford-upon-Avon is not very far from the Rollright Stones, in fact it's less than 20 miles. Shakespeare would have had plenty of opportunities to visit the Rollright Stones on his journeys to and from London, and even if he never actually visited the Stones he must surely have heard stories about them.
