Krista,

I apologise: I made a dig concerning your use of English in my post which I think, now,
was unwarranted.

Oh, indeed, they were never put there as a child's playground; children, of their own
nature will play anywhere, though.

The stones will outlive any Built-for-children playground, though!

I know, i don't always come across as clearly as i would like to....i'm quite new to this posting on the net and still forget that 'intonation' dosn't always come across as it was meant, although after recent events on this list i know i'm not the only one !
:-)

I know children will play anywhere but surely it's our job to teach them which places are suitable....they play on train tracks, on our neighbours property, climb on cars, throwing paint at ancient sites, burning tourist information huts etc...we wouldn't just stand by watching and let them do it though would we, although i must admit to not seeing any of that kind of behaviour from local children here, but then neither do you see them destroying any of the numerous sites which are free to access at any time, as also happens elsewhere where children are allowed free rein to 'play' where they like with no guidence. And i don't buy into the excuse that the kids on the mainland destroy things out of bordom as they have nowhere to go, they should try being a kid here....no cinema, no ice skating, no bowling, very few shops, chip shops are closed by 8pm....and very little trouble.

I hope they will outlive any childrens playground, but again sites on the mainland which are free to access for children to 'play' around unsupervised arn't faring to well are they?

Krista
