The weekend of the Stones Tour looks interesting, especially the Salisbury Plain visit; just reading Massingham's English Downland 1930s, his description of Bowls Long Barrow that meets at the junction of 4 green lanes near Imber is beautiful, (Imber is restricted territory for those who do not know) and he bewails the loss of the great bustard though of course it has recently just been introduced again. Places seem restricted on the tour, so hunt out Massingham in your local bookshop for the great "archaic church yards that serve both Avebury and Stonehenge circles"....
