As for midgies, one of the latest midge repellents is Marmite. No you do not
smear it on, just have it on some toast. Apparently it comes out in your
perspiration and they don't like it. Just a thought for you midge virgins.

I don't know if what i'm going to say is of interest to any one....maybe
it's old common knowledge anyway but here goes....
If, while you are visiting Lewis you have time to get to the castle grounds
in Stornoway for a walk around then at the top of gallows hill (cnoc n
croich) there are the remains of a neolithic chambered buriel cairn, i think
it's definately worth the short climb to look at and you can see the whole
of our little town from up there as well, and the Harris mountains on a good
day.( not often then lol )
Hope the weather cheers up for those coming here,.... we think we had summer
yesterday LOL....but who can ever tell with this place, warm and sunny this
morning, grey, rainy and cold this afternoon.
oh...and the midgies have just woken up....and they're HUNGRY!! lol
