The wife and I visited the Uists last year, and I can heartily recommend
a visit if anyone gets the chance!
We stayed on the edge of Loch Bi/Bee in North Uist, which was fantastic.
The whole place is utterly magical, even in the driving rain! (We had
some glorious weather interspersed, so got the best of it all, in my
opinion.)
We drove from tip to toe throughout our 3 days there, visiting as much
of the islands as we could, from Berneray to Eriskay...
My recommendations for "must sees" on a short visit are: Pobhill Fhinn
stone circle (NF843651) and neighbouring Barpa Langass (NF838657),
Pollachar (NF745145 - next to the Polachar Inn for lunch!), Am
Politician (pub in Eriskay that still has some of the whiskey on display
that was washed up on the neighbouring beach which insired the story of
"Whisky Galore!")
I'll think of others, I'm sure! The whole group of islands have so much
to offer. Amazing place... Enjoy!
