[Stones] Cups

Dear All,
   
  I've been making some translations from the French language describing a stone plinth to a cross near St-Martin-Sur-Oust. The author states that cups were used by a pre-Christian water cult.He even dates this cult to 500 B.C.E. He does not include any references to support this. Is anybody aware of any published material or a classical reference.
