don't suddenly give up and leave.
... Why not? We apply it to governments that go to war. Indignance seems a
proper response. They COULD leave - they've "gifted land adjacent to the
Northern Henge to the nation" (translated as "given up and left") already. Had
George's mum and Dad never met, they might not have.
"Surely you expect them to continue to the 'death', or until some sort of
shady deal has been
done, as has happened with Stancliffe Stone in Derbyshire."
Could well be, we aren't daft. But I dispute that "the writer is wasting all
their energy being indignant that the other side is spinning the truth to
suit their message." Tarmac think it worthwhile to portray themselves as having
a "friendly neighbour policy" towards their victim communities. We think
it's worth showing their other face. There's a calculation to be made that there
comes a point where negative publicity outweighs the commercial benefits -
no-one can say where that point is but its worth trying to get there. Tarmac
doesn't have a monopoly on PR luvvies or strategic thinking.
