OK, my apologies to him. Thinking about it a bit more, I did and do
support strong personal criticisms of the public sector archaeologists
when it was suspected that they were not being entirely even handed, I
just don't get the indignant tone that the quarry manager and Tarmac
don't suddenly give up and leave.
I don't support him or them but why would they? Surely you expect them
to continue to the 'death', or until some sort of shady deal has been
done, as has happened with Stancliffe Stone in Derbyshire. Of course
corporate hypocrisy should be challenged and countered every step of the
way but the writer is wasting all their energy being indignant that the
other side is spinning the truth to suit their message. It's probably
driven by some PR luvvies in London rather than the quarry manager.
