...so there are some questions that cannot be asked, that's rather
Orwellian isn't it?

I know about some of the fora, I'm a member of Thornborough Talk, that
predates Timewatch by several years. I know about Henge Warriors that
George is associated with, that does indeed have a large following. I'm
just not aware of any substance to 'Timewatch' other than a stream of
press releases quoting Chairman George..

If the campaign can be harmed by the suspicion that 'Timewatch' = George
then that's no one's fault but George for creating such paper thin
structures.

While on the subject of George and his tactics, I also don't approve of
personal humiliation and name calling*, even if the person in question
is the quarry manager. At that point it all gets rather too 'animal
rights' for me and again starts to backfire. It's this sort of
intemperate ranting that gives campaigning and amateur blogs in general
a bad name.

(This has all the hallmarks of George, my apologies to him if it's not)

To answer the rather purile p**ing contest about who's done the most for
ancient sites (in case I'm accused in return of not answering
questions). I was thought to be doing enough to be asked to write on the
subject for 3rd Stone magazine, but had to stop when it ceased. By that
time Heritage Action was on the scene and going strong and I was winding
down most non Portal activity (including other things like the Stone
Circle Webring that has been passed to Michael Fox) to concentate on
that. However it is still a strong thread, and since 2001 we've
published over 200 'Sites Under Threat' items on a huge variety of things.
