 It all looks fascinating...The idea of heads is an interesting one, look at 
the "celtic head" at Bath if you have a chance.  There are stone heads that 
are found in a  pagan roman context, and the head of  the stature of Minerva 
at Bath seems to have been decapitated when found, believe the same applies 
at the Uley shrine, the old gods overthrown..  Just read recently that there 
have been only 150 beads found in barrows, which might suppose that they 
were not decorative, but belonged in the pouch of magic trinkets that the 
shaman would have when he was buried.
